What you need to know about Venice |
|
| |
Due to the fact that Venice is a little Island the hotel space
is very limited and everything is very expensive.
|
|
| |
Unless you are a Venice enthusiastic and sleeping in Venice proper
is a must for you you may consider to be accommodated on the main
land, preferably in Mestre.
|
|
|
From Mestre you reach Venice Santa Lucia
train station by train (Every 15 minutes a train during day time)
or by public bus. |

The best way to explore Venice is a mix of walk and the use

where to eat in Venice |
|
| |
For low budgets I suggest the
- a self service chain restaurant by the train station. If you
avoid the rush hour times you can have a good meal at an affordable
price. There is also a brek on the main land in Mestre near the
station.
|
|
| |
The
- is a recommendable restaurant near San Marco in Venice.
|
|
| |
In Mestre I recommend "Da Bepi Venesian" (tel 041 92
93 57, Via Sernaglia 27, open Tuesday to Sunday). A couple of
blocks from the train station.

what you need to know about Florence |
|
| |
Florence is definitely one of the most fascinating cities in
Europe.
If you want to know about the middle ages architecture: have a
walk in the center. If you want to know about renaissance and
medieval art: visit
Accademia, Pitti Palace, Bargello etc. All these treasures can
be seen thanks to a very wise woman, Katarina de Medici. The Medici's
where big art collectors and when they died out Katarina de Medici
left all the art treasures of her family to the city of Florence.
The authorities of Florence were clever enough to keep that art
collection together and wise enough not to touch the Character
of the city center. No other city in the world is more medieval
than Florence!

Public transportation in Rome |
|
| |
Public transportation in Rome can be a night mare. Rome has 2
subway lines only. From north to south and from east to west and
that's it. Every time they dig the earth to built a new subway
they find most important archeoligal treasures and they need to
stop the subway construction. It looks like the Romans have given
up the idea of a subway system and most of the public traffic
will continue to go by public buses which are often stuck in the
traffic. timetable and info:
